Several politicians testified today during the trial on the incident in the Parliament on April 27 2017. Antonio Milososki from VMRO-DPMNE testified that his party had every right to filibuster the discussion on the proposal to elect a Parliament Speaker, as it was looking for a solution to the political crisis.

SDSM and DUI broke the filibuster by staging an irregular vote to elect Talat Xhaferi as Speaker, which prompted the large crowd, that was gathering every day in front of the Parliament, to burst inside. Then Speaker Trajko Veljanoski is now charged by prosecutors affiliated with SDSM in a second trial over the incident.

The Executive Committee of VMRO-DPMNE did not make a decision to organize protests. We merely gave them our moral support. Just as SDSM did not have a decision to organize the Colored Revolution protests, but supported them, Milososki said.

Other testimonies, from DUI officials Xhevad Ademi and Artan Grubi, pointed that Veljanoski was conducting the session in accordance with the rules of the Parliament. They agreed that he was right to give the word to Zekirija Ibraimi, whose decision to sing the Albanian national anthem enflamed the crowd outside of the Parliament and greatly contributed to the incident.
