Zoran Zaev yesterday acknowledged that he had committed a criminal offense and obstructed justice. According to his acknowledgment, Zaev impeded an ongoing investigation in two of his officials, opposition VMRO-DPMNE reacted in a press release.

The party’s statement said that with Zaev’s impeding the investigation, the criminals had enough time to hide their traces and evidence.

By impeding the investigation, Zaev practically acknowledged that he had directly committed a criminal offense – Violation of the secrecy of the proceedings under Art. 369 of the Criminal Code.

In October 2017 Zaev said that two Government officials are under investigation for corruption and that a criminal procedure has been initiated against them.

The proceedings of the prosecution are confidential and in no case should the prime minister know of what the prosecutors, who are a separate state body, are working on.

VMRO-DPMNE once warns that Zaev, with his disclosure, hinders the investigation and that there is a risk that he agreed with the criminals to take part of the stolen money for himself.

VMRO-DPMNE expects the PPO to immediately summon Zaev and to initiate a procedure for his obstruction of justice. We suspect that Zoran Zaev consciously sabotaged the investigation and that behind that intention there is a material interest for him, and that the crime he has done gets an even more difficult qualification.
