Prime Minister Zoran Zaev denied reports that, during the negotiations with opposition leader Hristijan Mickoski, he announced Katica Janeva’s imminent release from detention. Antonio Milososki, who was part of the VMRO-DPMNE team, said that Zaev made the announcement that Janeva will be released within 10 days.

That is a bold faced lie. I strongly deny these lies because whenever we would open the issue why do we even need to debate the law when Janeva’s case files are being given to the Public Prosecutor I replied that I was informed, by Janeva’s lawyer Irena Frckoska, that it makes sense for Janeva to want to hand over the files because she is being responsible, but also because she wants to reduce her exposure to allegations of tampering with the witnesses or with the files. This is why we continue to negotiate. And Milososki is now abusing my comment with his lies, Zaev said.

Zaev added that the Government is not giving up on finding common ground with the opposition on how to reorganize the Special Prosecutor’s Office.
