Zoran Zaev’s insistence to use languages he barely speaks made another of his interviews go viral. The former Prime Minister was speaking with the Balkan Al Jazeera and decided to conduct the interview in Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian, but infused with a heavy doze of Macedonian.
The entire interview is a treasure-throve for linguists, but one comment which popped up was when Zaev used a statement best translated into English “on top of it all”, which simply does not work outside of Macedonian, on the unsuspecting journalist.
