During a TV interview, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said that he impeded an investigation in two corrupt public sector managers when he spoke out about the on-going investigation.

In November 2017 Zaev said that two Government officials are under investigation for corruption. He didn’t specify if they are ministers or managers of public institutions, and that was the last of it. Yesterday, during his TV24 interview, Zaev was asked what happened with this case.

They were dismissed. They no longer exist. It’s probable that, with my transparent comment I blocked some investigative actions and everybody involved assumed defensive positions and the investigation could not be followed through the end. Our intent was to get them to go to prison if the investigation is completed, but, at this point, they are dismissed. They were both managers of institutions, Zaev said.

The Prime Minister refused to name the two managers or the specifics of the crimes they were suspected in. His Government is carrying out systematic judicial attacks on the opposition, with hundreds of simultaneous criminal charges against VMRO-DPMNE officials, but no SDSM or DUI officials have faced scrutiny of any kind.
