Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met Thursday United States Special Representative for the Western Balkans, Matthew Palmer and US Ambassador Kate Marie Byrnes.

At the meeting, it was reaffirmed that Macedonia and the United States successfully maintain and strengthen the established strategic partnership in the interest of the citizens of both countries, as well as in achieving the common goals of democratic prosperity in the region and in joint actions in the fight against terrorism and extreme violence.

Prime Minister Zaev expressed gratitude for the ratification of Macedonia’s NATO Accession Protocol in the US Senate, which is of particular contribution in completing our country’s full-fledged NATO membership process.

Zaev stressed that the country remains committed to the EU integration process and the reform processes, maintaining an atmosphere of relaxed interethnic relations, as well as good relations with its neighbors.

At the meeting, it was also stated that the country’s commitment to Euro-Atlantic processes is steadfast and that Macedonia and the United States share the optimism that they will be successfully completed.

The United States Special Representative for the Western Balkans reaffirmed the United States’ clear stance that they remain Macedonia’s ally on the road to full-fledged NATO and EU membership, as well as the country’s continued efforts and policies to secure sustainable conditions for a prosperous future for the citizens of Macedonia.
