In a social media post, Zoran Zaev called on the prosecutors to complete the investigation into the major corruption scandal that has enveloped his Government.

This is a time of justice, a time when nobody can be spared in the fight against crime and corruption. Nobody is privileged and nobody will be amnestied. I encourage the prosecutors to continue with their work, until the last man, no matter which way the investigation leads, Zaev said.

Zaev faces serious criticism in the public as prosecutors stopped well short of investigating Special Prosecutor Katica Janeva, or the many top level SDSM officials who were reportedly involved in racketeering and abuse of office. A long list of SDSM party officials, in both the central and local Government, are suspected of being involved in the scandal. Even US diplomats, normally strongly supportive of Zaev, made statements to this effect, while French Ambassador Thimonier was outspoken in his criticism.

Zaev also called on the opposition VMRO-DPMNE party to vote in favor of his proposal to name another of his loyalists, Vilma Ruskoska, to replace Janeva as the next Special Prosecutor but this time with an open-ended mandate.
