Zoran Zaev publicly rebuked his party deputy leader Muhamed Zekiri, for his statement condemning France and its Ambassador to Macedonia Christian Thimonier.
Zekiri was one of the many Zaev supporters who engaged in French bashing after President Macron vetoed the opening of EU accession talks with Macedonia and Albania.

In a TV interview, Zekiri said that France “played Macedonia” and accused the Ambassador of being close to an intelligence officer who worked for President Ivanov, and who, Zekiri claimed, influenced the Ambassador.

Send a message of criticism toward all who criticized or insulted the first representative of the French Republic, Ambassador Thimonier. He works as a sincere friend of our country and is pointing to all the details. Sometimes the diplomats don’t have it easy, Zaev said.

The Prime Minister added that Zekiri’s comments do not reflect the position of their SDSM party.
