Airport authorities confirmed that the Government jet had an emergency landing at the Skopje airport. Prime Minister Zoran Zaev was not in the plane at the time, which only carried the flight crew.

Acording to the MIA news agency, the pilot observed an urgent issue with the front wheel of the plane and reported it to the airport authorities. The pilot then managed to safely land in Skopje.

The captain performed a low overflight in order to have a visual check of the landing gear. He was told that the gear is down and he decided to land, said Nikolce Tasevski, manager at the M-NAV air traffic agency.

According to the initial media reports, which were later proven false, Zaev was on the plane as it had to circle back to Skopje.
