Prime Minister Zoran Zaev thinks that April 12 should be kept as a date for holding early parliamentary elections, but, he says, leaves room for any changes, primarily due to the ratification of Macedonia’s NATO Accession Protocol.

We need to stick to the decisions, at least to those that we, as political actors, have reached by consensus and we should keep April 12. Of course, every time the responsibility of the state is above all. We leave any opportunity to make any changes, primarily due to NATO ratification, said Prime Minister Zaev while answering a journalist question after inspecting the start of construction works on the road from the village of Butel to the village of Ljuboten.

He suggested that as a state we cannot afford not having Parliament precisely when we should ratify the Protocol with NATO.

When all 29 member states will have ratified the Protocol and when it comes to the Republic of Macedonia to ratify it we we cannot afford not having Parliament, said the prime minister.

Therefore, as he added, Parliament Speaker Talat Xhaferi probably also pays attention to the legal deadlines.
