The high-level politics should be left in Brussels, and the EU Delegation remains here, irrespective of whether the country has received a date for start of negotiations with the Union or not, said EU Ambassador Samuel Zbogar on the new negotiation methodology ahead of the start of the Workshop on Financial Support provided by the EU.

It is too early to talk about the new methodology. As I have said before, it should be left to the high-level politics of the Member States and to the discussions in Brussels. What we need to focus on is what we can do as an EU delegation, to show people that we are here to continue our support, Zbogar said.

He stressed that Europe is here and will remain here, with increased funding, especially for municipalities, where, as he said, people should feel and live in a European manner, regardless if negotiations open or not.

As an EU delegation, we do not play a major role in the decision-making process of high-level politics in Brussels, but we do have a role here in the country to show the citizens that we are here for political support with funds. The EU is the largest donor in the country and provides nearly 100m euros annually in funds for the country, and more will come in the future, Zbogar added.
