United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said during a joint press conference with his American counterpart Mike Pompeo on Wednesday that Britain will leave the European Union at the end of October with or without an agreement and expressed confidence the UK will “make a success” out of Brexit regardless of the way it departs from the bloc.

Raab pointed out the UK is prepared to engage in further negotiations with the EU on a better Brexit deal since the existing withdrawal agreement poses a “threat” to the Good Friday Agreement. He pointed out it could be “difficult” to move talks forward if the EU refuses to make any changes to the Brexit deal but insisted Britain is “ready to do whatever it takes” to ensure there is no hard border in Ireland even in a no-deal scenario.
