Local election turnout reaches 27.2 percent by 15h

Turnout in the second round of the local elections reached 27.2 percent by 15h. In the capital Skopje, where most local mayors were elected in the first round but voting took place for the Mayor of the capital and the mayors of Centar, Karpos and Aeordrom, turnout was around 20 percent.

The State Electoral Commission informed that turnout was highest in Krusevo (over 50 percent at 15h), Probistip (49%) and Rosoman (48%). In Karpos, which is seeing the most hotly contested race of the three remaining races in Skopje, turnout was 32.4 percent, followed by Centar (31.84%). Turnout was exceptionally low in Saraj (6%) and Cair (8.83%) where only the race for the Mayor of Skopje was on the ballot.
