From the collapsed, plundered and disintegrated state that was our main challenge 26 months ago, and which we inherited from the previous Government of SDSM and DUI, today we can say that Macedonia is a better place to live in. I guarantee you that in three years it will be an even better place to live than today, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. During an event to promote new municipal vehicles, Mickoski stressed that the past 26 months have been struggling with collapsed and destroyed institutions, with a plundered state that was on its knees.
We have been completing projects that were started and forgotten, we have been building expressways, sections of railway and we continue to build expressways and sections of railway. We have continued with highway sections, we are starting new highway sections. You witnessed a few days ago a new highway section that we started, next month we will lay the foundation stone for another highway section, the Prime Minister emphasized.
He added that during this period they reconstructed hospitals and repaired what was destroyed by the previous Government in healthcare, as well as the consequences of criminal policies when, as he pointed out, we were a country that was literally at the bottom.
Robbed citizens, destroyed, devastated economy with misplaced economic policies, progressive taxes, solidarity taxes and what not, a period that we all quickly want to forget. But a government came that immediately got down to work and corrected everything that was left by the previous, I would say, criminal government of SDSM and DUI. One of the leading projects at the beginning of this government was the decentralization of funds from the state budget to the municipalities, and in this way we managed to secure projects worth half a billion euros that were decentralized from the central budget to the municipalities for capital investments, Mickoski said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that they did not stop there, but continued to cooperate with the municipalities.
One of the projects that we can also be proud of is this project that we are presenting today for a better environment, for greater hygiene in our municipalities. I congratulate all those who will receive new machinery, new tools to deal with waste. I call for both social responsibility and civic responsibility, because our environment is our environment and we should all protect it and be equally responsible for it, said Prime Minister Mickoski.
According to him, the next step is the delivery of buses that should start to be delivered to municipalities very soon for organizing ecological public urban transport, emphasizing that he is referring to electric buses.
He expressed gratitude to his colleagues from the Government, to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Alaksandar Nikoloski, to the Deputy Minister of Transport, to the mayors, to the World Bank director in the region, but, as he said, to all those who support these projects.
