Mickoski: we have a full four year mandate, but if the oppositions wants, we can hold early elections

The Government has received a mandate from the citizens for a four-year term and has a clear timeline for fulfilling its promises, stated Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski in response to a question about whether early parliamentary elections are being considered. Mickoski, who visited the Municipality of Tearce today for the opening of a new kindergarten, pointed out that the Government’s priority is to implement as many projects as possible and improve living conditions for the citizens.

He emphasized that the Government is—as he put it—moving forward with and completing projects that had been stalled for years. “This Government received the citizens’ mandate for a four-year term. We have plans and a specific timeline for fulfilling our promises. We are working on facilities that had been stalled for decades or for significant periods. Through dedicated work, this Government is unblocking and completing them, delivering them to the citizens. That is our priority: to deliver as much as possible so that we have better living conditions. That is the essence of this Government’s operations,” Mickoski said.

Regarding the possibility of early elections, the Prime Minister noted that the parliamentary opposition has the opportunity to submit an initiative if it believes that elections should be held. “We remain committed to that, and the united opposition—Levica, the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), and SDSM in Parliament—can come together and submit an initiative for early parliamentary elections. If the united opposition—SDSM, Levica, and DUI—submits such an initiative, then we, as the Government, will provide an appropriate response,” stated Mickoski.

With this, the Prime Minister reiterated that the Government is not currently announcing early parliamentary elections and remains focused on implementing its program within the current term.
