A mobile team from the Customs Bureau seized vials of the medical solution “Xgeva”—used for treating malignant diseases—which a bus driver, a citizen of Kosovo, attempted to smuggle inside a first-aid kit. This medication is subject to strict import regulations requiring permits from competent authorities, and its transport must adhere to strictly prescribed standards.
The incident was uncovered at the Bogorodica border crossing with Greece as the bus was entering the country. During an inspection, a total of 29 vials (valued at 336,000 denars) and 29 small boxes were discovered inside a first-aid kit, along with 30 self-adhesive labels, all packed within a black plastic bag. The Investigation Department has filed criminal charges against the perpetrator for “smuggling,” an offense punishable under the Criminal Code.
This year, mobile teams and customs officers at border crossings have seized over 30,000 units of medication, clearly demonstrating our role in protecting the health of citizens.
