At today’s session, the Constitutional Court rejected an initiative submitted by the SDSM party to assess the constitutionality of the Resolution Parliament adopted to condemn SDSM’s spreading of hysterical false reports about plans to build alleged migrant camps in Macedonia.
As stated by the Court, the initiative was rejected because the challenged resolution does not contain legal norms subject to constitutional judicial review; rather, it consists exclusively of declarations of a political nature that do not regulate social relations. In the assessment of the constitutional judges, the Resolution does not constitute an act subject to review for constitutionality or legality. Consequently, the Court determined that it lacks the jurisdiction to rule on the submitted initiative, citing Article 38, indent 1, of the Act of the Constitutional Court.
SDSM was spreading these allegations after Macedonia signed a strategic partnership with theUnited Kingdom, that is expected to be used to finance major infrastructure projects. In order to dillute the news, SDSM claimed that the agreement includes secret clauses that Macedonia will build camps for asylum seekers refused by the UK.
