A driver working for the Government was charged with corruption, after he was caught with 500 EUR he took from a citizen. The driver promised to help the man land a job as a fireman for 1,500 EUR.
The man reported the request for bribe to the police who caught the driver with the marked bills. The court today ordered 30 days detention as the investigation is on-going.
The man was a driver for the General Secretary of the Government Igor Janusev. Janusev strongly condemned his actions and noted that he supports non-selective fight against corruption. He added that the driver worked for other officials and was his driver only for the past six months. “His actions are exclusively his own responsibility and he should be held accountable before the law”, said Janusev.
