Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said that he is satisfied with the implementation of the Ohrid – Kicevo road and expects that in the first quarter of 2027 this route will be fully put into operation.
Regarding the most difficult section of the Ohrid – Kicevo highway, from Izvor to Vrbjani, two galleries have been fully completed, the third is 70 percent done, and the fourth is at 50 percent. Software, traffic monitoring and early warning fire signals, ventilation systems, as well as a state-of-the-art control center are being installed in the tunnels. I expect this most difficult section of the highway to be put into operation in October. Then, the section near Botun will still have to be resolved and, as we promised, the highway will be fully operational in the first quarter of 2027. But we are not stopping here, you know that the Tetovo – Gostivar and Gostivar – Bukojcani roads are being built. I expect good news from the EBRD and in September we will announce the construction of another highway, Kicevo – Bukojcani, about 12 kilometers long, which should connect Straza with the Ohrid – Struga – Kicevo highway, said Nikoloski
