The official promotion of the “City Train” project will take place on Wednesday, September 2, announced the Transportation Ministry. The city train will start operating tomorrow on the first of the three planned lines: Zelenikovo – Novo Zelenikovo – Oreshani – Jane Sandanski – Drachevo – Lisice, terminating at the central Railway Station in Skopje.
The event is expected to be attended by the Prime Minister, Hristijan Mickoski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski, the director of Railway Infrastructure company Sinisa Ivanovski, the director of Railway Transportation company Dejan Kosutic, Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgievski, as well as the mayors of the municipalities of Zelenikovo, Kisela Voda and Aerodrom.
Traffic on the Zelenikovo-Nova railway station Skopje line will be realized with three trains according to schedule determined by the Ministry of Railways Transport. It is expected that the “City Train” project will be integrated with the traffic schedule of the public buses, obtaining a high-quality, integrated and efficient public transport for citizens, students and pupils.
The Transportation Ministry said that work is underway on designing the second and third train routes. One will connect the main Skopje Railway Station with Volkovo and Gjorce Petrov via Butel and the other with Madzari and Ilinden through Avtokomanda.
