The government, in the past two years, starting from the third quarter of 2024, and ending with the second quarter of this 2026, has created 17,000 new jobs. From 691,000 employees in 2024, the Macedonian economy now has 708,000 employees. The previous government did not create that many new jobs in seven years, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski today during his visit to Berovo.
Responding to a media questions after a visit to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary monastery, Mickoski said that he expects these number to grow with the opening of data centers and this growth to enable the return of young people who left the country.

You will realize that the previous government has not opened so many new jobs in seven years, and with this industry that I have been talking about so far (data centers) and the associated industry that will service this industry, I expect a large part of our people, especially young people, who are outside Macedonia to return home and continue their lives here with their families. Because from what I can see, especially in Western Europe, the situation there is not the same as it was 5 or 10 years ago. That is why we have ambition, we know where to develop the country and that is an irreversible path. The question is whether we will go that way or will we be at the bottom again, and instead of being active we will be reactive again, said the Prime Minister, adding that most of these new jobs are in the industry.
