The arrest of D.C., a driver employed in the Government, who is charged with accepting a bribe, shows that the laws apply to everyone, proving the will and purpose of the Government to fight corruption. This is stated in a Government press release issue today following the arrest of the driver, who sought 1,500 EUR from a man who wanted help landing a job as fireman.
The initial report of the illegal bribery originated and was initiated by the institutions to which the bribe request was reported. On September 4, 2026, the suspect was caught handing over 500 euros as part of the requested reward of 1,500 euros, which were previously marked.
At the time of the illegal act, the same person worked and performed tasks as a driver for the needs of the General Secretariat of the Government.
This action was previously carried out in cooperation with the services of the Ministry of Interior, during which marked money was given and the entire action is part of the Government’s efforts to uncompromisingly fight corruption. This case shows that the laws apply to everyone, proving the will and purpose of the Government to fight corruption. This underlines a clear line between those who want abuses and all others who fight against them. This is another example of how justice can be implemented through joint cooperation of authorities and institutions, the Government emphasizes in a statement.
