While answering a journalist’s question in Stip today regarding the cost of organizing events to mark the country’s 35th anniversary of independence, including the large David Guetta concert, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said that the public budget and the citizens paid zero denars for it all, as the activities were organized by socially responsible companies.
I have bad news for all those who speculated, complained, slandered, and spread false information while I remained silent. I chose not to speak because I wanted what was a truly special moment for cities across the country to remain a special moment for the citizens of those cities as well. One such event took place here in Stip, too. The bad news for the critics is that these events cost the budget zero denars. They cost both the citizens and the budget zero denars,” Mickoski said in response to a question following the opening of a sports hall in Stip.
He emphasized that his statements could easily be verified via the “Open Finances” platform and reiterated that everything had been organized by socially responsible companies.
I regret that some individuals are projecting their own mindset—thinking that because of how they would act, others must act the same way. But this is a prudent, responsible government. This is a pro-Macedonian government that cares for its citizens—a government for the people—where every single denar of budget funds is spent transparently. The bad news for them—and I will repeat this—is that zero denars of budget funds were spent organizing all these events, yet we still had an unforgettable summer, added Mickoski.
The Prime Minister emphasized that it was a historic and memorable summer, as a great number of stars visited the country.
“It all began in Bitola on August 2nd with Steve Aoki, followed by the ‘Silno Svetnal Den’ musical caravan, which toured through a dozen cities—including the event in Skopje — as well as an upcoming event in Tetovo on September 15th. Then, Paul Oakenfold and Van Dyk—also megastars—performed in Strumica. That was followed by a rock spectacle, also in Strumica, featuring Macedonian rock bands like ‘Memorija.’ Then, in Skopje’s city square, we saw performances of the Macedonian all-stars with Jose Carreras in a truly grand spectacle, and it all culminated in yesterday’s event at the City Stadium, where the world’s number one star, David Guetta, put on a truly unforgettable show, said Mickoski.
