Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said that one of the attackers in the mafia style murder of a 26 year old man in Skopje yesterday was serving out a prison sentence.
The attack was carried out on Saturday evening by two men on a motorcycle, who approached a group of men gathered in front of a shop in Skopje’s Cair district. The attackers opened fire at the group, killing the 26 year old A.M., who died during treatment at the Emergency Clinic in Skopje.
Toskovski said that he will not speculate about the motive of the attackers. He said that the initial reports are that one of the attackers is currently in prison, but that it is being determined whether he was released to carry out the attack. “We have secured appropriate evidence about the identity of the attackers, and I hope that we will provide them and prosecute them as soon as possible”, he added.
I can send a message to all those who think they are untouchable and who perhaps think they can roam the streets of Macedonia: they will be adequately responded to by the Ministry of Interior and all the investigative actions that need to be carried out will be carried out as quickly as possible. I hope that in the shortest possible period they will be secured and brought to justice. We have proven this many times in this period of two and a half years. For example, I could single out just one action that was directed at an organized criminal group. The Ministry of Interior, together with the Public Prosecutor’s Office, managed to solve seven criminal acts – murders that occurred on the territory of Macedonia in previous years. Of these, six were proven to have been committed on the territory of Macedonia, and one was committed in our southern neighbor, said the Minister of Interior.
