Starting today, foreign motorists have to pay traffic camera tickets when leaving Macedonia

Starting today, foreign motorists whose vehicles are caught doing violations by the Safe City traffic camera system will be asked to pay their tickets for speeding and other violations at the border crossing while exiting Macedonia.

The new practice created long lines at several borders crossings, as the foreign motorists were caught unaware. Vehicles with foreign license plates have so far been registered by cameras, but the practical mechanism for collecting fines at the border was not yet established. In July, the Interior Minister Pance Toskovski announced that fines for foreign drivers would be implemented through border crossings.
