Mass protests planned for November, Macedonia is not on the list

Even as Europe is reeling from the Saturday protests focused mainly on France, a new round is planned for November 20. They are being organized by the newly formed group “Youth International Strike.” The protests, spanning 40 countries, are prompted by the ongoing wars in Europe and the Middle East, and they coincide with a period of major demonstrations in Albania, France, and Italy. On November 20, protests are scheduled to take place in Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Austria, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom. Macedonia is not currently listed.

The announcement regarding the protests states that the time has come for escalation. “As student and youth organizations from across Europe, we are calling for a day of joint strikes and mobilizations. The continuous escalation of wars, militarization, and imperialist oppression—compounded by climate change—are shaping the world in which we are growing up, denying us, as young people, the possibility of a dignified future. Together, we have drafted a manifesto that can be signed by any organization prepared to join the strike.” Student and youth organizations throughout Europe are joining forces to organize a mass strike and mobilize across the continent, the announcement reads.
