Thousands of Macedonian faithful gathered near lakes, rivers and streams to day to celebrate Vodici – Epiphany, when priests sanctify the waters and throw a cross, to be retrieved by the quickest faithful.
In the capital Skopje, 160 participants registered to try to retrieve the cross thrown by Archbishop Stefan. 24 year old Dejan Mitrovic was the most fortunate of them.
As usual, one of the grandest celebrations was in Ohrid, where Martin Godzo retrieved the cross for the third time.
