The water in the area of Skopje is safe to drink, announced the Vodovod public utility company citing the weekly laboratory report on the quality of drinking water.
The report was obtained from the analyses conducted by the Vodovod sector for sanitary control, which took 211 samples from August 10 to 14 for physico-chemical and microbiological analysis. According to the results of the tests, all samples comply with the regulation on requirements for safety and quality of drinking water, the public company said in a statement.
The announcement comes days after an engineered panic in the social media, spreading fake reports about alleged pollution of the water with e-coli bacteria. The reports greatly worried the citizens of Skopje, and a dozen persons were summoned for questioning by the police to identify the source of the panic campaign.
