Nikoloski met with Eurocontrol director Medina

Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski held a meeting today with Raul Medina, Director General of Eurocontrol, at which it was emphasized that Macedonia is recording strong development of air traffic both in terms of number of operations and number of passengers, which represents a significant contribution to improving the country’s connectivity, entry of new airlines and opening up new opportunities for citizens and the economy.

As the Ministry informed, the meeting reviewed the previous cooperation with Eurocontrol and the possibilities for its improvement, with a special focus on strengthening the capacities of the aviation authorities in Macedonia. Nikoloski emphasized that the state is continuously working on developing the technical and operational capacities of the Civil Aviation Agency, as well as the Macedonian Navigation, while working on a Plan for the improvement and strengthening of human resources, in order for the system to respond to the increased needs and the expected further growth of traffic.

The Minister pointed out that it is in this direction that the policies and measures taken by the Government are aimed at improving the operability and capacities of the aviation authorities, as well as at creating conditions for further sustainable development of civil air traffic.

Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski also informed that with the new radar system that has already been installed, it is expected to further strengthen the technical capacities for air traffic management, the Ministry statement says.

The meeting confirmed the importance of continuing the cooperation with Eurocontrol aimed at the national priorities of the country, which has so far been implemented through the Country Support Program, and in the direction of improving the safety, efficiency and quality of air traffic.
