On the occasion of September 27—World Tourism Day—the Ministry of Culture and Tourism extends sincere congratulations to all tourism professionals, stakeholders in the tourism sector, and citizens who, through their dedication, knowledge, hard work, and hospitality, contribute to the development and international promotion of Macedonian tourism, states today’s press release.
This year’s theme, established by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism)—”The Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence for Redesigning Tourism”—highlights the growing role of modern technologies and innovation in shaping the tourism sector, while keeping people and the authentic tourist experience at the center of attention. The Government and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism recognize tourism as a significant factor in the country’s economic and social development. Our vision is to position Macedonia as a recognizable international tourist destination by valuing and promoting its rich cultural and natural heritage, developing high-quality and sustainable tourism products and services, and implementing modern digital solutions, the statement adds. It has been noted that positive trends in the tourism sector serve as an impetus to continue efforts toward its sustainable development and the enhancement of the tourism offering. In the first seven months of 2026, the country welcomed a total of 741,446 tourists, with an increase recorded in the number of foreign visitors. Tourists from Turkey, Germany, Serbia, Romania, and Albania were among the most numerous foreign guests. These results underscore the importance of the continuous promotion of Macedonia, the improvement of tourism service quality, and the development of an authentic, sustainable, and competitive tourism offering that meets the needs of modern travelers. Artificial intelligence and digitalization are opening up new opportunities for more efficient destination management, better planning, and the creation of more personalized, inclusive, and high-quality tourism experiences. “In cooperation with the private sector and all tourism stakeholders, we remain committed to creating conditions for the development of a modern and competitive tourism sector—one that keeps pace with global trends, preserves our values, and creates new opportunities for citizens and the economy,” the Ministry of Culture and Tourism emphasizes.
