The students’ request for a simpler way to use free public transport is being met with a concrete solution, said Ljupcho Risteski, President of the VMRO-DPMNE UMS City Committee, at today’s press conference. He added that, thanks to the efforts of the Mayor of Skopje and the management of the Public Transport Company (JSP), preparations for introducing a digital student transport card are in their final stages.
As he explained, once implemented, the process—which previously involved visiting the faculty to obtain a confirmation document, waiting in line at JSP counters, and handling paper documents—will be carried out digitally.This is a change the students requested and one that deserves to be realized. The city leadership listened to their needs and set out to resolve an administrative requirement that had consumed their time and energy for years. Any student who has waited in line for a confirmation document, and then in another line to validate their card, knows just how necessary this change is—especially at the start of the academic year, when lectures, practical classes, and other academic obligations are being organized. It is time for institutions to do their part and exchange the data they already possess, Risteski said. The card is being developed through cooperation between JSP and FINKI, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, and Mother Teresa University.
