Meager turnout at SDSM rally in Prilep

Only a few hundred people were seen in Prilep today, attending a rally organized by SDSM.

Venko Filipce was planning the rally, which he themed an “anti-fascist gathering”, as a way to show that he still commands support in the party, as he faces a growing challenge from a large faction of former top officials. But the plan backfired.

The rally, for which SDSM bussed supporters from other cities, was held as the party is adopting a policy of accepting the Bulgarian historic demands, that include rewriting of Macedonian history. To add to the confusion, one of the SDSM local branches managed to send out an invitation to a gathering to remember the WW2 fight against the “anti-fascist occupiers”.

A new poll today showed that SDSM trails VMRO 4:1 in the party rankings and 5:1 in the ranking of their party leaders.
