Miha Odzaklieski, director of the Krusevo Museum, submitted his irrevocable resignation today, after he allowed a Kosovan rapper to film a vulgar video in the Macedonium monument. Odzaklieski’s resignation follows public outcry regarding the filming of the music video “Sexy Mama”, in which Don Xhoni uses the brutalist monument as his office and has scantilly clad dancers performing.
Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski also addressed the matter today, announcing that he would immediately seek the dismissal of the Historical Museum director and the members of the institution’s Management Board, who had authorized the rental of the “Macedonium” historical monument for the music video shoot.
In his resignation, Odzaklieski states that no laws, regulations, or other acts were violated in this instance, nor were any actions taken contrary to decisions made by the institution’s Management Board. According to him, the procedure followed was part of an established practice previously employed by the institution. However, as he points out, managing a public institution entails a responsibility that goes beyond mere compliance with legal norms; it also requires upholding high moral and ethical standards, particularly regarding public trust.
Although there was no intention to violate any law, regulation, or decision, an inadvertent error was made in assessing how a particular action might be perceived by the public. I feel a moral responsibility for this, and that is why I am submitting my resignation, said Odzaklieski.
