Amid the dispute over the planned construction of data centers in Macedonia, VMRO-DPMNE reminded SDSM, which is opposing the idea, that building such facilities is part of the obligations Macedonia undertook in the EU reform agenda.
SDS and Venko Filipce every day criticize the development of the industry related to data centers. An industry of the future, an industry that is driving development in the world, but Filipce, for reasons known only to him, opposes it. On this occasion, let’s explain to Filipce and his friend Zoran Zaev, who is still obviously giving him directions for work. Macedonia already has a data center in Prilep. However, it is not a primary, but a secondary one, which means that in the event of a possible cyber attack on the system of an individual institution, the data is stored there at the secondary one. Now each institution finds a way to store its data. That is why Macedonia needs a basic, primary, national data system for storing all data from all institutions. Macedonia as a country has a project in the reform agenda with the EU for the construction of a national data center. The EU provides finances and financial assistance, and Macedonia has an obligation to build a basic, primary national data center. This is a way to protect the data of state institutions from possible cyber attacks, i.e. to ensure that the data is secure, VMRO-DPMNE said in a statement.
This is what SDS opposes, and let us just recall that during their government there was an attack on the FZO healthcare fund system and citizens could not exercise their rights, maternity leave could not be paid, funds for medicines could not be refunded, and the like. Hence, it is evident that SDS opposes the development of an industry that means protecting the personal data of each individual, protecting state data.
