The case against former Deputy Prime Minister Artan Grubi and seven other individuals for corruption involving the public Lottery company has been distributed to a judge and is scheduled to begin on August 24, the Skopje Criminal Court informed.
State prosecutors filed an indictment against Artan Grubi and seven other individuals, who, as the Prosecutor’s Office informed, during 2023 and 2024 jointly took actions that exceeded the limits of their authorizations and duties, with the intention of causing damage to State Lottery to the amount of 507,632,173 denars – about 8 million EUR.
All defendants are charged with a criminal offense – abuse of official position and authority under Article 353, paragraph 5, in particular, paragraph 4, in particular, paragraph 1, in particular, Article 22 of the Criminal Code. Through automatic assignment, the case has been assigned to Judge Biljana Suplinovska – Jovevski and is scheduled for August 24 at 10, the court announced.
The first defendant – the former director of the State Lottery Perparim Bajrami is still fleeing from the law enforcement. Grubi also fled Macedonia just before the charges were announced, but he returned earlier this year after 14 months on the run.
