Venko Filipce has finally spoken out regarding suspicions of serious misconduct within the ranks of SDSM. Filipce raised concerns involving former Minister of Defence Slavjanka Petrovska regarding the procurement of military helicopters and a contract that, according to his public allegations, involved a discrepancy of as much as 37 million EUR.
These allegations concern significant financial sums and Filipce has an obligation to the citizens to answer the following questions posed by VMRO-DPMNE: Since when has he been aware of this information? Why has he remained silent until now? What documents and evidence does he possess? Who signed the contract, and on what basis? “If Filipce truly possesses information regarding suspected criminal activity, then there is no room for selectivity, political calculations, or inter-party score-settling,” stated VMRO-DPMNE in its response.
The ruling party asks SDSM why did Filipce reveal his doubts only after Petrovska joined the so-called Platform 12.05 – a group of former top SDSM officials who are calling on Filipce to step down. The party urges Filipce to submit the information to the competent institutions and present it to a public prosecutor. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, acting within its mandate, should verify the allegations and determine whether there are grounds for further action.
If Filipce is aware of this case and possesses information about other similar instances, he should report them. We therefore call upon him not to stop at this single case. If he has information or suspicions regarding other illegal activities within SDS, he should make them public and submit them to the relevant authorities. Citizens deserve full transparency and accountability regarding every questionable contract, every penny spent, and every decision that may have harmed the public interest. The public has a right to know what has been going on, VMRO-DPMNE’s statement concluded.
