A man was arrested in Madzari, in the eastern areas of Skopje, while burning cables to extract the metals.
The arrest was made after a plume of dark smoke was spotted over this part of the city. Firefighters were dispatched to put out the fire.
This past summer Skopje was affected by numerous similar fires in unregulated dump sites.
