Nikoloski discussed expanding tourism and air traffic in Macedonia with Corendon

Macedonia has great potential for the development of air traffic and tourism, and we are continuously proving this. 28 new destinations, a 40 percent increase in air traffic, and over 20 percent growth in tourists are a clear indicator that interest in Macedonia is growing. Our goal is to turn this trend into new airlines, more tourists and new investments, and we are open to cooperation, said Deputy Prime Minister and Transportation Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski today during a meeting with representatives of the international tourism group Corendon.

At the meeting, as Nikoloski’s office informed, the possibilities for achieving cooperation in the field of air traffic and tourism were emphasized. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the enormous potential of Macedonia as a tourist and aviation destination, especially, as he said, in conditions of continuous growth in air traffic and an increased influx of foreign tourists.

Macedonia is positioned among the fastest growing markets in Europe with a 40 percent increase in passenger arrivals in air traffic, as well as a significant increase in the number of tourists, which further confirms the potential for the development of new airlines, tourist arrangements and investments in the tourist infrastructure, emphasized Nikoloski.

It was pointed out at the meeting that better air connectivity and the opening of new markets and services are of particular importance for the continued development of tourism and the number of new tourists in the country. It was concluded that there is room for future cooperation, especially through opening new opportunities in air traffic, attracting foreign tourists and considering potential investments in Macedonia.

Corendon is a prominent international tourism group and one of the three leading tour operators in the Netherlands and Belgium. The group offers package tours to more than 50 destinations. In addition to tour operator services, its portfolio includes more than 40 aircraft flying under the flags of Turkey, the Netherlands and Malta. In the tour operator services segment, it serves approximately 850,000 clients annually, while Corendon Airlines transports between 6 and 10 million passengers annually.
