Agreement has been reached on the price of peppers in Strumica

Pepper farmers and wholesalers from Strumica reached an agreement on the price for this year’s harvest, said Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski. The announcement comes after several days of protests, for which the Prime Minister said that they were politically motivated.

But what is very strange, what was strange to me from the briefings that I received from the Minister, is the fact that we also supported the farmers to get higher prices. And when we told them that we can go and protest together in front of the offices of the wholesalers, and we know who are the 3-4 largest buyers in the region, they said no. Well, wait, it doesn’t suit them to protest the wholesalers, but the Government is not the one that is buying the produce, Mickoski said.

It’s widely known that a good portion of the trade with the vegetables grown in the Strumica valley is conducted through companies owned by former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
