Eight customs officers fired, allowed smuggling of cars into the country

Eight customs workers were fired after it was revealed that they allowed import of cars without the payment of duties, Customs director Boban Nikolovski said.

The group helped smuggle 35 vehicles into Macedonia, and caused 9 million denars in damages to the budget. Beyond having the officers fired, Nikolovski said that criminal charges have been filed against them.
