The project to complete the two buildings intended for FINKI, located near the UKIM Rectorate, is nearing completion. It is expected to be finalized in November, after which a tender for a contractor will be issued and construction will begin. In addition to the two buildings designated for the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering (FINKI), a facility will also be built for the Faculty of Physical Education (FFK)—for which one of the two buildings near the Rectorate was originally intended. This facility will be constructed at the site where the FFK is currently located.
We have seen the conceptual design. The project is nearing completion. Furthermore, we have a donation from the Spanish government and an expert who is also participating in the work to finalize this project. I expect the project to be fully completed in November. “Once it is ready, we will immediately issue a tender for a contractor to begin construction on these two buildings and a third one,” stated Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska today while answering reporters’ questions during a visit to the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering on the occasion of European Researchers’ Night.
As previously announced, the two buildings for FINKI will be connected by a bridge. Janevska noted that work had been done over the past year to redesign the facilities—which have remained unfinished for over a decade—into a modern project.
“They had been left to the ravages of time. An analysis had to be conducted with the help of faculties from UKIM—and I am grateful to them, as the professors worked *pro bono*. Following that analysis, we issued a call for a company to create a new design,” Janevska added.
