Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced via a video message this evening that, as part of his visit to Germany today, he and his government team held several business meetings. In addition to discussions with Deutsche Telekom—which covered potential further investments in Macedonia, extending beyond the telecommunications sector into healthcare, smart technology, and other industries—the government team, led by Mickoski, also met with the German Chamber of Commerce.
According to the Prime Minister, economic cooperation with Germany is being deepened, with the ultimate goal of securing more investment and achieving a higher GDP.
“Today in Bonn, we had a truly successful and, I would say, quite dynamic agenda. We began the day with meetings at Deutsche Telekom, a company that has been present on the Macedonian market for several decades. In our discussions today with the CEO of Deutsche Telekom, we addressed their potential additional investments in Macedonia—specifically within the telecommunications market—though our talks were not limited to that sector alone.” “We also discussed potential investments by Deutsche Telekom in other sectors—such as healthcare, smart technology, and various other industries—that will generate significant added value for the Macedonian economy. This would expand Deutsche Telekom’s presence not only in Macedonia but throughout the region,” says Mickoski.
He adds that, during the day—as part of the visit to Bonn—he also held meetings with the German Chamber of Commerce and its representatives.
“Many companies that already have investments in Macedonia were present, as well as others with ambitions to invest there. We discussed their experiences to date and how to make their existing investments more successful; at the same time, we talked about expanding their investments and operational capacities, which would, in turn, boost the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Macedonian economy,” the Prime Minister points out.
In a video address, Mickoski assesses the day as a success.
“All in all, it has been a truly successful day here in Germany, in Bonn. Everything we discussed today will, of course, provide additional value and improve the quality of life for the citizens of Macedonia,” Mickoski emphasizes. Via his Facebook profile, the Prime Minister reported that a meeting was held with representatives of German companies from North Rhine-Westphalia that are present in Macedonia. The discussion focused on opportunities for new investments, the expansion of economic cooperation, and the creation of new, high-paying jobs in Macedonia.
“We presented the potential of the Macedonian ICT sector, green energy from renewable sources, healthcare, public safety, infrastructure development, and opportunities for the digital transformation of industry. The Government remains committed to creating a stable, predictable, and competitive business climate. Our goal is for German companies to recognize Macedonia as a reliable partner for long-term investments, technology transfer, and the development of a highly skilled workforce,” states Mickoski.
