The ZNAM movement expects to secure another deputy minister position in the Government, though it has not disclosed which portfolio. As the party’s president, Maksim Dimitrievski, stated today, this matter should be finalized sometime next month.
Responding to questions from the press prior to an event presenting the report on ZNAM’s elected and appointed officials, Dimitrievski also emphasized that relations and cooperation within the government coalition are excellent.
“For our political party, the priority is never what we receive as part of the government; rather, we want to assume responsibility. As we have previously stated, we entered this Government and essentially offered ‘carte blanche’ to avoid a repeat of the past—where mono-ethnic parties would grind down the major political entities that enjoyed massive public support. In this instance, we prevented that scenario from playing out again. Regarding the allocation of portfolios and positions, we proceed solely from the perspective of assuming responsibility.” “We expect one additional deputy-level position in another portfolio—which is yet to be defined over the coming month—and I believe that, just as we have done in the other portfolios and institutions where we assumed responsibility, we will make a meaningful contribution in that area as well. We are discussing several portfolios, though I would prefer not to speculate at this moment. Naturally, the prime minister-designate is the person best positioned to answer that question, and I believe you will hear a statement from him on the matter by the end of the month,” said Dimitrievski.
He added that, regarding the second and third echelons of government, he has received no complaints so far—neither from the prime minister-designate nor from the relevant ministers—concerning the performance of ZNAM officials serving at these lower levels of government.
