“The issue with Alta Bank is an ‘imported’ problem. SDS cannot simply make such statements off the cuff; they lack credibility, and secondly, it is evident that they do not understand the fundamental mandates of any institution. Yet, this is how Zaev operated—that mindset has been ingrained in them, and they view everything through that same prism. They apply double standards. Perhaps, just as with Eurostandard, they are simply ‘dreaming up’ these scenarios regarding Alta,” the ruling VMRO-DPMNE party said in a statement aimed at SDSM.
SDSM is accusing the Government over the problems faced by the small Alta Bank – previously Stopanska Bank Bitola, after the collapse of the Serbian Alta Bank.VMRO is accusing SDSM of spreading panic and sowing doubt in the stability of the entire banking sector.
“We are now seeing attempts by Venko’s party to create a distorted perception—suggesting that the problem could spread to all banks—even though the relevant authorities are communicating transparently and working toward a solution. Furthermore, the Governor has explicitly stated that citizens will not suffer any losses,” the statement added. “However, SDS representatives appear on television with a pre-prepared agenda aimed at spreading panic and once again spinning public statements—exploiting this issue, just as they do with any other they can leverage.
SDS is synonymous with instability, crime, and scandals; they deliberately exploit matters of public interest to manufacture a sense of instability through such baseless claims. We urge SDS to cease their attempts to score political points. Competent authorities are already working on a solution; the citizens have no need for the destructiveness of SDS,” stated the ruling party.
