Iskra Hadzi Vasileva named new organized crime prosecutor

Prosecutor Iskra Hadzi Vasileva has been elected as the new head of the Prosecutor’s Office for prosecuting organized crime and corruption.

Reportedly, Hadzi Vasileva secured the support of the majority of prosecutors in the country, competing against Faton Azizi, Trajche Pelivanov, Lidija Raichevikj, and Jovan Cvetanovski. She won by a narrow margin—just a few votes—ahead of Pelivanov. The official results of today’s vote are expected to be announced soon.

Hadzi Vasileva has 11 years of experience as a public prosecutor and is a member of the fifth generation of graduates from the Academy for Judges and Public Prosecutors. Until recently, she worked at the Skopje Public Prosecutor’s Office, and in 2024, she moved to the Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption.

Throughout her career, she has worked on several significant cases. She is also publicly known for her involvement in the case involving €350,000 found walled up inside the home of judge Gjoko Ristov suspected of corruption, as well as in the investigation in the “Zhan Mitrev” hospital.
