Nikoloski: we sped up the rate of infrastructure investments

Investments in the road and rail networks of Corridors 8 and 10 are being implemented at an accelerated pace; Macedonia is experiencing economic growth, and fuel prices are by far the lowest—not just in the region, but in all of Europe. The Government continues to incentivize exports, as this is the top priority for the domestic economy, stated Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski today at the “Global Trade and Growth 2026” forum, organized by the Swiss Chamber of Macedonia.

As Nikoloski pointed out, exports are a priority because, if we were to limit ourselves solely to the domestic market, we would fall far short of the current level of economic growth. “Exports are the number one priority for the domestic economy—something we, as a Government, strongly encourage and support. I am pleased to see growth, and I am glad that foreign companies that have invested here continue to expand. Furthermore, new companies are arriving with the intent to invest; but what I find particularly encouraging is that domestic companies are increasingly entering foreign markets. I expect significantly more growth in the period ahead,” Nikoloski emphasized.

According to him, the prices for rail services provided by “Macedonian Railways – Transport” are also the most affordable and competitive in the region. “I believe our task in the coming period will be to maintain these prices, taking into account global challenges,” said Nikoloski. He added that the Government remains strongly committed to supporting both domestic and foreign companies. Nikoloski pointed out that further work is needed on standardization to boost their competitiveness in foreign markets.
