Voting is taking place in Macedonia today, in two diplomatic missions, as Bulgarian and Serbian citizens are exercising their right to vote in elections being held in their respective countries.
According to data from the Republic Electoral Commission, 1,438 citizens have registered to vote in Serbia’s parliamentary elections. On the other hand, only 265 Bulgarian citizens registered to vote today in their country’s presidential elections, despite the opening of seven polling stations—located in Skopje, Bitola, Strumica, Prilep, Kavadarci, Kocani, and Ohrid. This figure is nearly half the number of those who registered for the parliamentary elections in April.
Today, cameras from the broadcasters “Sitel” and “Telma” captured a significant number of citizens outside the Serbian Embassy, indicating a high level of interest in exercising the right to vote. In contrast, there was almost no activity outside the Bulgarian Embassy, even as that country claims that it has distributed over 100,000 dual citizenships to Macedonian citizens.
