Charges against Zaev’s relative for defrauding an Austrian company

The Financial Police filed criminal charges against Atanas Kostov—son-in-law of former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev— who is suspected of leading his company into a false bankruptcy.

An Austrian company called AMMA has been seeking to recover nearly five million euros from Kostov for years—a claim stemming from a fraud case involving the export of pickles, for which a judgment was issued by the Arbitration Court in Vienna. Although the bankruptcy proceedings are still ongoing, the Financial Police have charged Kostov, his company based in Valandovo, and another manager of a company based in Dojran with “intentionally causing bankruptcy” with the goal to avoid paying what he owes his former business partners.
