The National Decent Work Programme 2026–2030 represents a joint commitment by the Government, employers, trade unions, and institutions to improve labor market conditions, ensure quality jobs, and provide greater protection for workers’ rights, Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski stated today at the signing ceremony for the programme.
According to the Government, Mickoski emphasized that the programme aims to address challenges facing the country, including a shortage of skilled labor, the emigration of young people, insufficient productivity, and a mismatch between the educational system and the needs of the economy. He noted that the goal is to translate economic growth into a better standard of living for citizens and to create high-quality, well-paid jobs.
“I view today’s signing of the National Decent Work Programme for the 2026–2030 period as an important joint commitment—a commitment shared by the Government, employers, trade unions, and all institutions responsible for the future of the Macedonian economy. Our goal is clear: to become a country where labor is respected, knowledge is valued, and work ensures a dignified life,” Mickoski pointed out. He emphasized that the Government is committed to economic growth that will directly impact citizens’ living standards by creating conditions for new investments and better employment opportunities.
“We want an economy that grows, but more importantly, an economy whose growth is felt by the citizens. We want more investments—specifically, investments that create high-quality, well-paid jobs. We want successful companies, because there can be no strong economy without them. At the same time, however, we also want a workforce that is satisfied, protected, and motivated. These two goals are not in conflict; on the contrary, they are interconnected,” said the Prime Minister.
In his address, Mickoski specifically focused on young people and the need to create conditions for them to build their professional futures within the country, as well as on the greater economic inclusion of women in the labor market.
