For the first time, three robot-assisted total knee arthroplasty (total knee replacement) surgeries have been performed at the “St. Erasmus” Specialized Hospital for Orthopedics and Traumatology in Ohrid. The surgeries were performed by a joint medical team led by prof. dr. Konstantinos Makridis from Greece, with the participation of the hospital’s orthopedic team.
It gives me great pleasure to inform the public that, for the first time at our institution—the ‘St. Erasmus’ Hospital in Ohrid—a team of orthopedic surgeons led by Prof. Dr. Makridis is performing robot-assisted knee surgeries, specifically total knee replacements. With this, our institution joins the pioneers of robotic surgery in the field of orthopedics in the Republic of Macedonia, stated the hospital’s director doctor Hari Sokarovski.
He added that such achievements demonstrate how the public healthcare sector is keeping pace with modern developments in medical science and technology, with the aim of advancing healthcare and improving patient treatment. The hospital extends its gratitude to the Ministry of Health and the Government for their support in realizing this significant milestone.
